The Department of Surgery provides a full range of surgical treatments using cutting edge techniques and technologies, including minimally invasive laser and laparoscopic surgery.

Our surgeons are dedicated to a higher level of surgical care and have been recognized with many awards and designations.

Laparoscopic Surgery: This is also called minimally invasive surgery or keyhole surgery. It is a modern surgical technique in which operations are performed through small incisions (usually 0.5–1.5 cm) and using telescopic camera.

Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS), is the most preferred technique in which an advanced minimally invasive surgical technique to operate through a single entry point to reduce pain, less scars and make patient to recover soon.

Advantages of Laparoscopic Surgery

Minimal invasive so less post-operative pain, less blood loss, tiny scars compared to big incisions on conventional surgeries, reduced number of total hospitalized days and so on.

Common Surgeries Performed

Laparoscopic Appendectomy: This surgery is used to remove the vermiform appendix. This has to be done as an emergency, when the patient is suffering from acute appendicitis.

Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: A less invasive way to remove the gallbladder is called laparoscopic cholecystectomy. It is performed through several small incisions rather than through one large incision.

Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy: Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH) is a procedure using laparoscopic surgical techniques and instruments to remove the uterus (womb) or tubes and ovaries through the vagina (birth canal).

Diagnostic Laparoscopy: Diagnostic laparoscopy is a procedure that allows a surgeon to look directly at the contents of a patient’s abdomen or pelvis through a telescopic camera, without making any big incisions to arrive at a diagnosis.

Special Equipments Used

Harmonic Scalpel: The Harmonic scalpel is a cutting instrument used during surgical procedures to simultaneously cut and coagulate tissue. This can cut through thicker tissue, creates less toxic surgical smoke.

Stryker Laparoscopic Instruments: Stryker is one of the leading manufacturers of laparoscopic instruments and we use their entire range of devices from HD cameras to powerful light sources.
